Rules of Cups Stacking Individual (ISSF Asian Sanctioned Event) 

  1. Individual 3-3-3, 3-6-3 & Cycle event will merge all your best record to Overall.
    Top 10 of each division goes to final. Example: 333 + 363 + Cycle = Second 

  2. Player must compete in their Age Division. Player Age Division coincides with their age on last day of tournament. 

  3. Player may only compete once in the Individual Timed Preliminarys. These Prelims involved the following stacks in this Order: 3-3-3, 3-6-3 and Cycle. 

  4. Each Player is allowed up to 2 warm ups 3 tries and must be done in the following order: 3-3-3, 3-6-3, Cycle. Warm ups may not be done in-between subsequent tries of that same competition stack and a single up stack of any type a warm up and will be counted as the next try resulting in a scratch of that try. 

  5. Cup Size Requirement: All cups used in the competition must comply with the standard dimensions of 55 x 95 x 79 mm. Any cups outside this specification will not be allowed.

  6. Player must compete in their Age Division. Player Age Division coincides with their age on last day of tournament.

Rules of red card

  • Improper starting and stopping hand positions on the timer. ~Cup(s) stacked completely UPSTACK and DOWNSTACK of the Improper stacking sequence.

  • Fumbles not fixed properly Illegal use of hands on 2 stacks.

  • Player use their wrist(s) or forearm(s) to start or stop the timer. Also, part of the hand(s) may be in contact with any cup(s) while starting or stop the timer.)

  • Each player not allowed more than 2 warm ups prior to each of the three separate competition stacks and must be done in the following order at the On-deck table: 3-3-3, 3-6-3, Cycle. Warm ups for each competition stack must be done before the first actual timed try of that stack and the warm up stack sequence must be the same one as that competition sequence. 

Doubles (ISSF Sanctioned Event)

The doubles competition consists of a team of two players working together to complete the Cycle as quickly as possible. The challenge of this event is that one player must use only their right hand, while the other must use only their left hand. All doubles divisions compete in the Cycle. Doubles teams may be mixed gender.

Registration & Team Formation

  • The doubles competition consists of two players per team. Each player may enter only one doubles team.

  • Doubles competition is held only in the Cycle event. • Age gap: The year of birth between the two players may not differ by more than 10 years.

  • Age division: Determined by the average age of the two players (rounded up to the next whole number if necessary). Examples:
    [14 + 16] ÷ 2 = 15 → placed in AK14–15
    [15 + 25] ÷ 2 = 20 → placed in AK18–24

Schedule & Finals

  • Qualification results serve as the basis for classifying finalists in each age group.

  • Finals are arranged in reverse order of the qualification results.

  • Each team in the final has 2 warms up and 3 timed attempts (valuation attempts).

  • The fastest valid time achieved by a doubles team counts as the final result.

  • In each age group, the doubles team with the fastest time wins.

Parent–Child Doubles (Optional) 

  • Players aged 21 or younger may form a doubles team with their parent, step-parent, legal guardian, grandparent, or step-grandparent.

  • Parents’ registration fees are waived for the Parent–Child doubles event.

Team 3-6-3 Relay (Non- Sanctioned Event) 

There are NO warm-up runs in this event. A relay team may optionally have one substitute. The maximum number of members on a relay team is 5, but only 4 may compete in the event.

  1. The Lead Stacker on the team starts at the timer on the competition table. The other three Stackers on the team line up single file behind the start line, 210 cm (7 ft.) back from the edge of the table, and facing the back of the Lead Stacker.

  2. The judge directs the team to take their first of three “tries” by saying to the Lead Stacker, “Reset timer and start when ready.”

  3. The Lead Stacker will do so and once completing the 3-6-3 will run back to the start line and touch down one foot on or over the start line thus allowing the Waiting Stacker (with both feet behind the start line and in contact with the floor) to leave the start line and run to the table.

  4. This continues with the second, third and fourth stackers.

  5. The fourth and final Stacker will stop the timer and return to the backcourt.

  6. A relay’s “time” is first established in the prelims by three “tries”. (Remember, there are no Warm-ups allowed in this event.) The team’s “Best Time” of the three tries is their fastedt time. Each timed “try” shall be recorded to the 1/1000th of a second.

Prelims all timed events begin with preliminary competition aimed at determining the fastest stackers in each individual event division top 10 who then qualify for the Finals. Finals Qualifying players from the Prelims who compete for place rankings in each division. Note: The number of finalists may vary depending on the Records The fastest times established in the timed events at ISSF Sanctioned Tournaments. Records are established in Finals Competition per Event & Age/Gender Divisions , World records which Can be found on the ISSF web site at https://issf.online and National records which can be found on www.stackingmalaysia.com
